![]() Things to do in VictoriaWe have put together a section on this site to help you plan your holiday in Victoria while you visit our B&B. Once you've booked an elegant suite, make sure you make the most of your stay on the island by checking our the events page for a sample of what's in town while you're here. You won't want to miss a selection of Victoria's gardens, like Butchart, Abkhazi and Government House Gardens. With our mild climate and eight-month growing season, we've earned the name Victoria, City of Gardens! Tour some local wineries while you're in the neighbourhood seeing great gardens, and taste the fine products of Victoria Estate Wineries, or Chalet Estate winery. Also greatly amenable to this gentle climate, golf in Victoria is a year-round recreation, with world-class courses like Olympic View and Royal Oak golf courses. Being outside on this end of Vancouver Island is a must, while you explore the many outdoor adventures to be experienced in Greater Victoria. Take a day trip to Chemainus, Port Renfrew or Duncan; see history recreated at Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse; take one of the many walking tours, or follow some of the many excellent trails like the Galloping Goose or Westsong Walkway. Perhaps even take a hike in Goldstream Park and watch salmon spawn, or Golden Eagles congregate. Leave room on your agenda for our fine cultural venues. The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, and our large population of artists provide an intriguing collection of things to see. Museums such as the Royal BC Museum and Imax Theatre are not to be missed. The exhibitions presented have included Leonardo de Vinci and Dragonbones, all about dinosaurs. Many historical buildings in Victoria have been restored to represent earlier eras, and make excellent sites to see, such as Craigflower Manor and Schoolhouse and Hatley Castle. Craigdarroch Castle just up Fort Street presents performances right in the castle rooms, one of the many musical and theatrical places to see and things to experience, if you have the time! There is something for everyone from operatic productions of Carmen to Military band performances. Our Victoria Symphony performs Symphony Splash each summer, right in the harbour on a barge, to an audience of thousands on the Parliament Buildings lawns. Whatever you tastes, whatever your budget, you'll find plenty of things to do and see in Victoria. We'll help you sort out your "must sees" when you stay with us, and often other guests have their own reports of what they've found around town. |
