Our magical City of Victoria is one of the most picturesque places to visit, with its scenic inner harbour flanked by majestic, historical buildings. In the background, behind the ivy-draped walls of its royal centrepiece The Empress Hotel, rises magnificent Mount Baker.

VICTORIA IS A TOUCH OF ENGLAND

Perhaps one of the most compelling reasons to visit our West Coast paradise is the touch of England atmosphere, which exudes from all corners of Victoria, including our centrally located neighbourhood. Afternoon tea at the famous Empress Hotel, or at one of the charming teahouses, is considered a must. Our little English City is sometimes considered more British than the British! Historic Victorian-style houses, such as Lord Nelson Bed and Breakfast with its Tudor Manor look, dot the landscape, and horse-drawn carriages clop along downtown streets with delighted visitors aboard.

DOWNTOWN VICTORIA

A five minute drive from our B&B, locals and visitors alike stroll throughout downtown exploring the unique nooks and crannies, down alleys with quaint names like Trounce Alley, and Fan Tan Alley. The boutiques along Government Street can fill hours of fun, whether trying on quirky hats at the olde hat shop, or tasting some morsel at Roger's Chocolates. A tea-break at Murchies is an excuse to browse their huge selection of anything "tea" related.

GALLERIES AND THEATRE

For the curious visitor, we offer castles like Craigdarroch, historic homes like Helmcken House, art galleries such as Victoria Art Gallery and world-class museums, starting with the Royal BC Museum. Tour our large naval base at Nadan, and the Maritime museum, the Aviation museum and many more such attractions. First Nations artwork and culture is represented regularly through galleries and theatre productions. After taking in some of the many local artworks in various shops, watching glass-blowing techniques at Starfish Glassworks is a must. From Fisgard lighthouse to Fort Rodd Hill, and stargazing at Centre of the Universe to glass-blowing, we have the destination for you.

CULTURE IN VICTORIA

Craving a little local culture? Victoria's fine theatres, The Belfry or MacPherson or Royal to mention a few, and the Victoria Opera, Victoria Symphony Orchestra, and world-class music events like Jazzfest satisfy the need.
